Our main purpose is to beautify Mississauga through the planting of trees shrubs and flowers. We do this in a variety of ways either by planting them ourselves or assisting others or encouraging others to do it. Our Horticultural Society volunteers are busy each year with local community beautification projects such as the gardens at Leslie Log House, Rotary Park and Leisure World Long-Term Care Home in Streetsville.
Streetsville Horticultural Society (SHS) members are active in our communities – contributing our time and love of the outdoors. We maintain public flower beds and planters, tend gardens at libraries and seniors homes, and assist in restoring and naturalizing rivers, parks, creeks and roadsides.
During the pandemic, we have continued to maintain Rotary Park and Leslie Log House. We have had excellent virtual speakers, continued publishing our informative newsletter Streetsville Blooms 10 times a year, and when safe, held outdoor coffee get togethers in the warm weather.
We are looking forward to the return of in-person meetings in 2022 and to once again hosting our Plant Sale, scheduled for May 28th, 2022.
